A Shot Across The Bow

I am a regular American like you are. But I've had the experience of working among America's elite -- well-paid, powerful senior executives. And I know how quickly they forget -- if they ever knew -- what it's like to live a lower-wage life.

As an observer, I had a rare opportunity to learn and understand how powerful people think. How blind they become to people who don't -- and won't ever -- make at least six figures. To remain in their club, they can never look down -- only across and up.

I think the culture in our Congress is very much like the atmosphere in the executive suite. Full of self-important people whose political careers have made it impossible for them to relate to us, let alone represent us.

It's impossible for employees to get rid of a member of senior management. But it's actually easy for citizens to get rid of elected representatives. All you have to do is vote -- for the other guy or gal.

Why vote them out? No doubt each one of them has at least some redeeming value. But together, they are a Petrie dish for a toxic culture. We have got to break up the club. We've got to don our hazmat suits and irradicate the mold in Congress.

This blog is to motivate you to be brave. Do something historical. Take the leap. Close down the club. Clean up the crud. Stop returning elite "lifers" to Congress -- and start electing citizens unencumbered by a system that serves large contributors and prays at the altar of seniority for its own sake.

For the sake of democracy, would you be willing to elect a completely new slate of representatives in upcoming elections?
